- Storage and information management leader Iron Mountain announced the expansion of its data center campus in North Virginia, with the construction of VA-2 underway.

Iron Mountain predicted that it will complete the development of the first part of VA-2 in the first quarter of 2020. It is expected to support the demand from both new and existing customers in the IT infrastructure market and enhance continued economic growth and job growth in Prince William County. VA-2 will employ nearly 50 people at the data center campus and add $225 million to the data center project when fully built.

“I am pleased to see Iron Mountain expanding their capacity for data storage by moving into phase two of their building plan,” Jeanine Lawson, supervisor at Iron Mountain, said in the announcement. “As a pioneer in the data center industry, having Iron Mountain choose PWC over other NOVA jurisdictions speaks volumes about the county’s successful economic development strategy. I look forward to continuing our work with Iron Mountain as both a business and community partner.”
