BSCHS is focused on becoming one of the leading providers of community health and services in the Hudson Valley by using the technology to redefine its quality care approach. BSCHS also seeks to improve its quality of care in radiology, neurology, and pediatrics.
The partnership will enable BSCHS to optimize and standardize workflow and technology initiatives. Ideally the partnership will allow BSCHS to stay current with new technology solutions to consistently improve its operations.
The organization hopes to save money in the long term while significantly improving operations and patient care with the new technology.
“As part of a regional health system, we want to increase standardization, connectivity and optimization of our technology resources, while still having the flexibility to invest in the innovations we need to support healthier communities,” said BSCHS CEO Mary Leahy, MD. “By collaborating with partners like Philips, we can go beyond providing diagnosis and treatment and work on proactive health management such as healthy living and prevention, building health in our communities. Together, we can transform healthcare, creating integrated solutions and patient care models, while providing exceptional, compassionate care for all those we serve.”
Philips is not a new addition to the WMCHealth network. The partnership with BSCHS is one of several in the WMCHealth network, stemming from a relationship established in 2015 set to last for 15 years.
WMCHealth has invested over $40 million in Bon Secours Community Hospital within BSCHS to help grow its facilities to prepare for a better health IT infrastructure. WMCHealth has expanded the emergency room, upgraded the imaging center, and converted medical and surgical rooms.
Bon Secours Community Hospital plans to become a pillar of its healthcare community by bring key services to improve community health through advanced healthcare infrastructure solutions.
Philips North America CEO, Brent Shafer says that that organizations such as BSCHS need to break away from reactive care and embrace the future of proactive population health management with innovative technologies. Advanced care delivery solutions encourage patients to be active in their personal health.
“It is no longer good enough to treat people within the clinical setting when they are ill; health systems need a dedicated partner that can bring not just technology, but also deep healthcare and consumer expertise, resources and solutions that will help accelerate the transformation of their organization and ecosystem,” Shafer said. “Our partnership with BSCHS allows them to expand access to quality care, manage costs and share risk. Ultimately, this will allow them to focus on their primary mission: delivering quality care and building health for the people in their communities.”
Philips announced a similar partnership with Banner Health earlier this week, focusing on telehealth solutions for population health management and connected care research. The partnership also hopes to increase patient care by utilizing more advanced infrastructure technology.
Philips and Banner also released the results of a joint study, concluding that the use of telehealth solutions as part of Banner’s health IT infrastructure was mutually beneficial for both the organization and patients.
