- Virginia recently launched a contact-tracing app to notify individuals if they were exposed to the coronavirus, becoming the first state in the US to use the Apple-Google COVID-19 exposure technology built into smartphones.

The app known as Covidwise uses the Apple-Google framework and Bluetooth technology to determine how close and how long an individual may have been exposed to the coronavirus without receiving personal information from the contact or user.

If one of the users tested positive for COVID-19, the system will notify the individual through a six-digit pin provided by the Virginia Department of Health.
