- Several major radiologists’ societies recently called for development of ethical codes of conduct for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology, warning against the use of radiology data and algorithms solely for financial gain.

In a joint statement, the societies also warned that the use of AI in radiology can increase the risk of system errors with possible adverse consequences, which raise ethical and societal concerns.

The groups signing onto the statement included the American College of Radiology, European Society of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics, Canadian Association of Radiologists, and American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
