CDC Leverages De-Identified Health Datasets for Public Health

October 13, 2021 - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has selected cloud-based health IT vendor PointClickCare to provide de-identified real-world data to support public health priorities.

The health IT vendor will provide CDC with de-identified health data for residents of long-term and post-acute care facilities under the awarded contract.

This data is expected to aid CDC in better understanding COVID-19 and other threats that impact long-term care facility residents.

CDC staff will use the data to conduct analysis on disease patterns, progression, and health outcomes.

Additionally, CDC will leverage the data to conduct public health surveillance and assess clinical guidelines uptake, treatments, and interventions.

The health IT vendor’s data aims to provide insights that represent older adults, a population that is often considered to be at higher risk for severe illness.

The vendor’s market share of over 5 million patients will provide valuable data for the CDC to study the long-term care population in depth.
